My preference is always for those rare, pure, old school boxing gyms, free of ego, and full of passion for the sport. But sometimes I include the odd boxercise place because I know that not everyone wants the nitty gritty of actual combat.

Why listen to me: I’ve been boxing as an amateur for 6 years and trained in countless boxing gyms around the world from Seattle to Spain. I’ve learnt that picking the right gym can literally change your life and want to help you do the same. Learn more about me here.

PLEASE leave your own opinions and experiences about Jacksonville boxing gyms in the comments at the bottom and I’ll continuously update this page to make it as useful as possible!

The 5 Best Boxing Gyms in Jacksonville🥊

1️⃣ Duval Boxing and Fitness Club

Duval boxing gym jacksonville

  • Summary: Top quality new boxing gym. Best in town.
  • Address: 1330 W Beaver St
  • Google rating: 5.0
  • Opening hours: M-T: 5:30am – 07:30am & 4pm – 7:30pm, Sat: 8am-12 noon
  • Pricing: $125 / month
  • Best for: beginners, experts, and everyone in between
  • Online: website, Facebook

Started by a coach from the recently closed Boxing Yard gym (which was one of the best in Jax), Duval Boxing and Fitness has only been open since mid 2022 but it’s already building up a big fan base.

This place is for beginners and pros alike and both coaches, Ellis and John, are genuine and passionate disciples of the Sweet Science.

Whether it’s sparring, working on your technique, or just a good workout that you’re after, you’ll find it all here.

The gym itself looks awesome with huge amounts of space and equipment in a warehouse-like building.  Seriously, look at that space! As far as boxing gyms in Jacksonville go, this is the best. Go train here.

2️⃣ Renaissance 4:13

Renaissance boxing gym Jacksonville

Renaissance 4:13 Boxing & Fitness Academy is dedicated to bringing back the old school skills of boxing training.

There are no bells and whistles here but if you want to master the fundamentals of boxing in a friendly environment while getting a great workout then it’s definitely worth checking out. They also offer some Muay Thai classes.

The coaches are very popular and are welcoming of boxers of all levels, right from first-timers to those looking to compete.

They have a travelling boxing team as part of the gym so if you want to get involved in competition then this place could be a great option for you.

3️⃣ Deadgame

Deadgame boxing classes in jacksonville

  • Summary: Nothing fancy here but passion for boxing
  • Address: 2727 Clydo Rd #7
  • Google rating: 5.0
  • Opening hours: M-F, classes by appointment
  • Pricing: $25 / class (when bought as a pack of 4)
  • Best for: one on one training
  • Online: website, Instagram, Facebook

Deadgame claims to be the longest running boxing gym in Jacksonville and has established a good team of coaches and a strong community-focused atmosphere. The coaches (Josh and Knight) are patient but motivating, and are welcoming of boxers of all levels.

Unlike most other boxing gyms, Deadgame doesn’t offer group classes – you need to schedule one-on-one classes in advance (which does make it quite expensive if you want to train regularly).

This place is all about pure boxing, no gimmicks, no BS. Just learning how to box and the disciplines and values that come with it. Deadgame centers it’s boxing philosophy around the Three Cs: Commitment, Consistency, and Confidence.

The gym itself looks fairly small and worn down but, then again, boxing isn’t meant to be fancy.

4️⃣ Jax Muay Thai

JMT boxing classes in Jacksonville

  • Summary: Great Muat Thai gym that can help with boxing
  • Address: 14255 Beach Blvd
  • Google rating: 4.9
  • Opening hours: M-T: 8:30am-2pm & 5-9pm, F: 8:30am-2pm, S: 8:30am-1:30pm, S: 10am-12pm
  • Pricing: $130 / month
  • Best for: those wanting variety combat training
  • Online: website, Instagram, Facebook

We included this on the list for two reasons: firstly, there just aren’t that many decent pure boxing gyms in Jacksonville and 2) it’s a really great combat gym.

JMT has fantastic reviews that suggest it is not only a great place to get authentic and challenging training that doubles as a great workout, but is also somewhere that allows you to be a part of a welcoming community of people from all walks of life and skill levels.

The coaches are hugely experienced with 20+ years of fighting at the highest level and also run a fantastic program for kids.

These guys work hard and are open 7 days a week, most mornings and nights!

5️⃣ Title Boxing Club

Title boxing gym

  • Summary: Great workout boxercise franchise
  • Address: 14286 Beach Blvd
  • Google rating: 4.6
  • Opening hours: M-F: 6am-8pm, S: 9am-1pm, S: 10:30am-1pm
  • Pricing: $150 / month
  • Best for: fitness fanatics
  • Online: website, Instagram, Facebook

f you want a great workout while having fun then sure, Title Boxing Club is for you. If you actually want to box then it’s not for you.

Their website says it is a non-contact workout and that it will never allow fighting or sparring in the gym…

It’s a fitness studio not a boxing gym. If that’s what you’re after then great, they have multiple classes through the day, 6 days a week, and the coaches and workouts sound fantastic.

Title Boxing Gym is a big chain with hundreds of clubs across the USA so the equipment is top quality and it’s well run.

6️⃣ The Boxing Yard (Closed for relocation)

The Boxing Yard

  • Summary: A great spot but currently closed for relocation
  • Address: n.a.
  • Google rating: n.a.
  • Opening hours: n.a.
  • Pricing: n.a.
  • Website: www.boxingyard.com

As of March 2023, The Boxing Yard is closed while it relocates. There is no indication of when it will re-open. Its website says the closure is temporary but there are suggestions that it might be closed for good.

Lets hope not, as prior to its closure, it was considered one of the best places to train in Jacksonville and this city badly needs more good boxing gyms!

How to pick a boxing gym in Jacksonville❓

  • Coaches – an experienced, motivating coach makes all the difference. Not just when it comes to improving your technique but also in encouraging you to keep coming back time and time again. Becoming a good boxer takes a long time and so it’s important you find a coach that you click with if this is something you want to do for many years. Reviews will often focus on coaches so try looking for those for some insights.
  • Convenience of location and class timings – for me this is so important. My boxing gym is on the same block as my home so I have no excuse not to go almost everyday, even if I’m not feeling up to it. Finding a gym that’s close to home or work will make your life much easier and help to make going to boxing training a habit. The same applies to class timings, if you have to massively disrupt your day to get to a class because it doesn’t fit your schedule then you’re going to be less likely to go.
  • Gym focus – I don’t have a problem with boxercise classes, but make sure you know what you’re signing up for if you join one of these. Boxercise is very different than actually learning how to fight and getting sparring experience. If you truly want to learn how to box then you need to box. That involves punching other people and getting punched yourself.
  • Trial class – most boxing gyms will allow you to have a free trial class so you can get a feel for the place before you sign up. This is a great way of evaluating whether you like the coach, the energy, and the focus of the gym. Always worth asking for a free trial class if you’re not sure whether it’s offered.

How much do boxing gyms in Jacksonville cost? 💰

  • Monthly memberships: ~$100-150 per month. Most places offer unlimited classes to their members. Be sure to check for this.
  • One-on-one personal training: This can vary a lot but expect to pay around $100 per hour as a minimum.
  • Drop-in boxing classes for non-members: ~$15-$30 per class
  • Initiation fee: not all places make you pay one of these (and I’m not a fan of it) but those that do usually charge a one-off fee of $50-$100

12th Round 🔔

Jacksonville needs more good boxing gyms – it’s a city of nearly a million people! Having said that, there are a few gems in town so I hope that one of them suits your needs. In particular, if you can get to Duval Boxing then you’re sorted. Or, if you can’t find what you’re looking for, why not set your own boxing gym up…? Competition would be limited.

Happy fighting!🥊🥊
