My preference is always for those rare, pure, old school boxing gyms, free of ego, and full of passion for the sport. But sometimes I include the odd boxercise place because I know that not everyone wants the nitty gritty of actual combat.

Why listen to me: I’ve been boxing as an amateur for 6 years and trained in countless boxing gyms around the world from Seattle to Spain. I’ve learnt that picking the right gym can literally change your life and want to help you do the same. Learn more about me here.

PLEASE leave your own opinions and experiences about Las Vegas boxing gyms in the comments at the bottom and I’ll continuously update this page to make it as useful as possible!

1️⃣ Johnny Tocco’s Ringside Gym

Some of the very best in boxing history have trained here including Mike Tyson, Sonny Liston, and Floyd Mayweather. This place is the real deal, the oldest of the old school. It has been training world class fighters in the heart of downtown Vegas since the 1950s.

This gym has been called a “pipeline of champions” a “cathedral of boxing” and is often listed among the best boxing gyms on the planet. You get the point.

Tocco himself was known for his love of boxing, his kind soul amidst the brutal sport of boxing. For every fighter he helped to achieve greatness, there were many more kids that he helped off the street.

Note that it is currently closed to the public but it is available for private use. Contact Jimmy Smith at (702) 595 -5834

2️⃣ Boe Boxing

In a city flooded with glitz and egos, Boe’s is a down-to-earth sanctuary of welcoming positivity focused on training beginners and enthusiasts alike in the pure boxing.  Members of Boe’s are full of nothing but the highest praise for this top notch boxing gym.

Trainer and owner Steve Boe is credited with changing the lives of many people who enter his gym with his commitment, experience, and motivation.

They have classes throughout the day week, 6 days a week including for beginners, the competitive team, cardio and more.

This place is undoubtedly one of the best boxing gyms in Las Vegas – highly recommended.

Fight Capital is a mixed combat sports gym offering boxing, Muay Thai, and jiu-jitsu. It’s great for fighters who have been in the game for a long a long time or people just starting off. And the kids program is said to be the best in town.

The staff are extremely knowledgeable and experienced. They’ll make sure you learn the real techniques while getting you into the best shape of your life.

The gym itself is clean, spacious, and full of great people. With 10 varied classes to choose from throughout the day, there’s a time and a style here for everyone.

They’re secretive about their pricing so you may need to drop in in person to find out the details.

4️⃣ Big Shot Boxing

Big Shot Boxing is so focused on boxing that they haven’t even got round to setting up a website. But don’t let that put you off, this place is an awesome gym to train at.

Head trainer and owner Mark will get you where you want to be. Whether it’s beginner, amateur, pro, or just trying to get in shape. Mark knows and loves boxing at a level very few people understand.

There’s no judgement here, just an all round great gym with an amazing vibe. The art, the location, the staff, and the members make this place feel more like a home than just a gym.

Only downside is that it’s only open in the afternoons and evenings so if you need to train in the morning then it may not work for you.

Other than that, this is one of the top boxing gyms in Las Vegas for sure – give it a go.

5️⃣ City Boxing

City Boxing is sweeeet.

Amren, the owner is a very popular figure in the community who lives and breathes boxing, loves the city of Vegas, and wants to help the youth of the area.

It’s a down-to-earth no frills gym that has trained many a champion but is also very welcoming of beginners and kids.

6️⃣ Barry’s Boxing

Of all the boxing gyms in Las Vegas, Barry’s Boxing probably has the most admirable values. It is a non-profit organisation and has a mission to help the local community, in particular youth.

It’s a family run gym and this really shows in the great atmosphere and friendly staff. The gym itself is very clean and spacious – always a good bonus!

And at just $55/month for unlimited classes, it’s extremely good value.

So if you’re looking for somewhere that gives back to the community while teaching you the real sport of boxing at rock bottom prices, Barry’s is for you.

7️⃣ Mayweather Boxing Club

TMT boxing gym in las vegas

Home to the iconic pound-for-pound king of boxing – Floyd “Money” Mayweather – the Mayweather Boxing Club is the official training facility for The Money Team and has become a breeding ground for numerous other distinguished fighters and world champions.

This place is verging on becoming more of a tourist destination than a boxing gym, at least for the public. If you want to train here you either have to pay $1,700 for a 90 minute “experience” with Jeff Mayweather and Floyd Mayweather Sr. or convince them that you are a world class boxer worthy of being a regular at this place.

If you ever wanted to train like Floyd Mayweather Jr. or simply learn how to box, here’s your chance — but Floyd doesn’t call himself “Money” for nothing…It’s way too expensive and exclusive here for most of us!

How to pick a Las Vegas boxing gym❓

  • Coaches – an experienced, motivating coach makes all the difference. Not just when it comes to improving your technique but also in encouraging you to keep coming back time and time again. Becoming a good boxer takes a long time and so it’s important you find a coach that you click with if this is something you want to do for many years. Reviews will often focus on coaches so try looking for those for some insights.
  • Convenience of location and class timings – for me this is so important. My boxing gym is on the same block as my home so I have no excuse not to go almost everyday, even if I’m not feeling up to it. Finding a gym that’s close to home or work will make your life much easier and help to make going to boxing training a habit. The same applies to class timings, if you have to massively disrupt your day to get to a class because it doesn’t fit your schedule then you’re going to be less likely to go.
  • Gym focus – I don’t have a problem with boxercise classes, but make sure you know what you’re signing up for if you join one of these. Boxercise is very different than actually learning how to fight and getting sparring experience. If you truly want to learn how to box then you need to box. That involves punching other people and getting punched yourself.
  • Trial class – most boxing gyms will allow you to have a free trial class so you can get a feel for the place before you sign up. This is a great way of evaluating whether you like the coach, the energy, and the focus of the gym. Always worth asking for a free trial class if you’re not sure whether it’s offered.

How much do boxing gyms in Las Vegas cost? 💰

  • Monthly memberships: ~$100-150 per month. Most places offer unlimited classes to their members. Be sure to check for this.
  • One-on-one personal training: This can vary a lot but expect to pay around $100 per hour as a minimum.
  • Drop-in boxing classes for non-members: ~$15-$30 per class
  • Initiation fee: not all places make you pay one of these (and I’m not a fan of it) but those that do usually charge a one-off fee of $50-$100
